Strictly Come Dancing star Neil Jones had fans on edge as he teased Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell’s “engagement” on Twitter.
The professional dancer decided to tease his followers with exciting “news” about the loved-up pair on Wednesday night, during an outage that caused Facebook and its apps, WhatsApp and Instagram to stop working for many users.
“Wow, I think it’s the best content I’ve ever seen on @Joe_Sugg stories u should really check it out ohhhhh yeah right u can’t #instagramisdown,” he wrote.
“It’s hard to understand but something about having a big surprise for @dbuzz6589 but first he needs to speak to her dad and he said something about bells. I think @Joe_Sugg might be buying some knee pads as he keeps talking about getting on one knee.”
But fans were wise to the 36-year-old’s tricks as they quickly branded him a “wind up merchant”, clearly enjoying Jones’ “amusing” tweets.
One wrote: “NEIL don’t wind us up like that! We can’t see his story.”
Another commented: “Omg. Neil!! You are such a prankster!! Hahaha!”
Sugg and Buswell melted fans’ hearts after confirming their relationship hours after finishing as runners-up on Strictly last year.
Since the final, which was won by Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton, the pair have frequently shared loved-up snaps and videos on their social media channels to keep fans up-to-date with their romance.
Jones, who is married to fellow show professional Katya, also had his relationship hit the headlines last series after his wife was pictured kissing her celebrity dance partner Seann Walsh. Both later apologised for their actions, which led to the breakdown of Walsh’s relationship.
The Jones’ recently opened up about the scandal, with Neil telling OK! he chose to forgive his wife as he “can accept people make mistakes”.
